ABOUT The Studio

Established in 2010, CFK Interiors is a boutique design firm founded by interior designer Claudia Kalur, based in Washington Depot, Connecticut. The firm works on projects in the USA and Europe. Rooted in a traditional vernacular, CFK Interiors is uniquely equipped to execute a full new constructed home or dramatic renovation and deliver a dream home.

Born, bred and educated in Portugal, Claudia switched gears and careers after relocating to the States. Having studied at KLC School of Design in London, she decided to pursue her passion for interiors and design full time upon settling in Connecticut. Before striking out on her own, she joined first a prestigious New York City architectural firm for a few years, and then a Connecticut-based architectural firm where she was involved in the decoration of a number of residential projects.

Known for its pristine, timeless and tailored design, CFK Interiors has built an enviable following. Its philosophy is to honour the brief, respect the architecture, create balance, infuse the classical with modernity, and, above all else, to make a house a home. Among her strengths, Claudia has a gift for color, a passion for texture and textiles and an appreciation for creating a home that reflects her clients’ interiors.

To date, the firm has completed projects ranging from a 650 sq. ft. pool house to an 8500 sq. ft. family home. Its distinguished portfolio includes commissions in Connecticut, the Berkshires, New York City, Florida, London and Lisbon. CFK Interiors' projects have been featured in Living Etc UK and House & Garden UK, and Connecticut Cottages and Gardens as well as New England Home. Claudia is a member of the Design Leadership Network and The List by House & Garden UK.

She lives in Washington, Connecticut with her husband Steven and daughter Margot. Steven Kalur owns F&H Architectural Design, and they share a studio in Washington Depot.
